The origin of our Chivalry Orders goes back to the Crusades (XI - XIII centuries) when bringing help to pilgrims and defense of Holy Places aroused the birth of the Hospitaller of monk-knights.

Today only subsist the Military and Hospitaller Sovereign Order of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta, commonly called Sovereign Order of Malta, acknowledged by the Vatican and 45 States, and the Holy Sepulcre Order ("Statute Pontifical")

Through the concept and ideals the elite attached to the chivalry, one arises the days of birth of private associations with the traditional spirit by definition which is close in nature to the facts and pious brotherhood and militant origin.

Having given careful consideration that the Board of the "Comite de St. Paul", serving as Elders for the (Reformed) O.S.P. and upon approval of the Chancellor, decided on December the 4th 2003, to give a different trend.

Before the speeding up of the moral decay of our western world society as well as the the threats represented by the fundamentalist religions and ideology, we need a revival of committed Christians ready to fight for the defense of Christendom.

"History of The Noble & Religious Associative Order of

St. Paul and the Teutonic Order"

The 19th of November 1190, 40 young German aristocrats receive their swords and gold spurs in front of the besieged fortress of Acre They were the first Teutonic Knights. The creation of the Order was approved by Pope Celestin III the 6th of February 1191. The first Grand Master of the Order was Heinrich von Walpot.

In 1510, Albrecht von Brandeburg-Ansbach was elected as Grand Master. He was to be the last one in Germany. Martin Luther's ideas gained ground. Preachers came in from Konigsberg, the Grand Master attracted by the Reform preached by Georg von Polenz and sent to the Reformed monk of Wittemberg, the statutes of the Order. The latter advised to renounce the Order's rule and to transform Prussia into a secular Principalty. On the 25th of April 1525, Albrecht entered Konigsberg, the capital of Prussia. He was to be the first Prussian Duke. The Teutonic Order ceased to exist.

The Reformed Order:

Archbishop Frederick P. Burckle - Count von Aarburg who not only is the Archbishop but also the Chancellor of the Order, gave as the emblem for the Order his own coat of arms, used in his family since his ancestor Anton Burckle von Aarburg was elevated to peerage by Emperor Charles V for his bravery during the battle of Pavie in February 25th 1525. Yet, it seems that in the begining of the 15th century some Burckle ancestors fought in the army of the Teutonic Knight's Grand Master, Ulrich von Jungigen (circa 1410)

The Lily Flower ( the one appearing on the coat of arms is typical of the 16th century) "Fleur de Lys" were used in many European noble families: Symbol of royalty, one should remember that King Solomon Palace was decorated with it. The Spur is a sign of chivalry. The Motto choosen by Chancellor Burckle is "Fides Christi" (Faith in Christ). From today: the 3rd of November in the year of our Lord 2008 A.D. Following deliberation of the Grand Council, and signed by the Grand Chancellor and the Lieutenant General. All Commanderies are now none existent. No person, member or other, is allowed to send, bestow or grant any Diplomas, Letters of Patent or any Certificates in the name of the Order. The only legal titles and awards have to be granted by the Council, with all seals, and signatures, of the Grand Chancellor and the Lieutenant General of the Sovereign Order of Saint Paul. Furthermore: all Vidames of the Religious Order of Saint Paul are maintained in their responsibility of Nobility titles and Divine call, for the good of the Order.
